Tanzania Program

Thu, 10/19/2017 - 12:53

The Tanzania Program is implemented in the northern regions of the country, in Arusha and Kilimanjaro, as well as in the southern region of Mbeya. With the objective of improving farmers’ livelihoods, a focus is put on increasing on-farm income by improving agricultural production. At the same time, the establishment of commercially focused farmer organizations capable of providing essential services to their members is put into practice. Coffee yields have increased from an average of 250 kg per hectare of clean coffee to 400 kg per hectare.

Diversification and conservation farming: we encourage farmers to diversify their income and stabilize their food security by planting other crops in addition to coffee. Through certain approaches, such as conversation farming minimum tillage practices, the farmers have increased their maize yields by up to 120%.
